Ponds & Woodlands
A Local Nature Reserve &
Community Green Flag Award Winner
This slideshow is made up of photos of just some the pathways around the Woodlands, other than the formal pathways, some of these have been improved by adding chipped material from the Woodlands Management that has been carried out by the Forest School Pupils ( led by John Hillier) and also work done by society members.
It is well worth exploring the site away from the formal pathways - suitable footwear is advisable during wet weather,
Earlier this year, some of the trees were thinned out from an area near the Upper Boat Pond, which hopefully would then allow the heather to benefit from more light, these photos taken towards the end of August show the improvement of the banks of heather, compared to previous years.
